Radiofrequency catheter ablation of newly diagnosed paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in a patient with mitral and aortic mechanical valves: A case study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with prosthetic valve is still a challenge because the higher recurrence rate and difficult manipulation catheters left atrium which may lead to risk complications. We presented first AF Vietnam patient who had mitral aortic mechanical valves.
 Case summary:
A 54-year-old man two heart valves (mitral aortic) implanted 16 years ago was newly diagnosed symptomatic paroxysmal for past 4 months at province general hospital. The treated amiodarone but could not tolerate medication. referral our centre made consideration radiofrequency ablation. Sinus rhythm successfully restored after pulmonary vein isolation, cavo-tricuspid isthmus ablation, tailor-ablation. At last follow-up 9-months post-ablation, sinus asymptomatic.
 Discussion:
Catheter valve(s) challenging due increased difficulty accessing as well inside atrium. Nevertheless, this procedure be safely performed high experience centres.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation for drug-refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in a patient with Ebstein’s anomaly

Ebstein’s anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease in which the tricuspid valve is displaced toward the apex of the right ventricle (RV). It is commonly associated with atrial arrhythmia, especially Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. In fact, up to 20% of patients with Ebstein’s anomaly have 1 or more accessory pathways owing to tricuspid valve malformation, most of which are located along these...

Catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

In the recent years, many investigators have proved the efficacy and safety of catheter ablation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Further studies would be necessary to decrease the recurrence rate and complication rate, and make the procedure more simple.

Catheter Ablation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

It is clear that the global burden of atrial fibrillation (AF) and its associated economic footprint in terms of healthcare utilization is rising exponentially. Cumulative evidence suggests that catheter ablation is superior to antiarrhythmic drugs in the management of paroxysmal and persistent AF in terms of improved quality of life, AF-free survival, and AF burden. It is hoped that catheter a...

A tailored approach to catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

BACKGROUND Because the genesis of atrial fibrillation (AF) is multifactorial and variable, an ablation strategy that involves pulmonary vein isolation and/or a particular set of ablation lines may not be equally effective or efficient in all patients with AF. A tailored strategy that targets initiators and drivers of AF is a possible alternative to a standardized lesion set. METHODS AND RESUL...
